Working With Certified Patient Safety Organizations

Florida's Patient Safety Organization is registered and certified by AHRQ. Our new national patient safety initiative is called First PSO. First PSO is the seamless, affordable way to add federal confidentiality and privilage protection to patient data, while collaborating with organizations to reduce the freqency of serious events. At First PSO, we know that healthcare organizations and providers care about their patients and strive to deliver safe care in a safe environment. However, pressure to disclose information about adverse events and near misses has begun to stifle the ability of healthcare organizations to focus on safety... until now. Passage of the Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act of 2005, administered by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), has ushered in a new era of honest disclosure and discussion without undue exposure to litigation.

Federally certified Patient Safety Organizations (PSOs) are there to protect you while you focus on enhancing patient safety within your facility. By housing and analyzing your protected data, First PSO will provide you with invaluable information that can be used to increase safety for your patients.
